RAVIT HELLED is a Professor for Theoretical Astrophysics at the Institute for Computational Science, Center for Theoretical Astrophysics & Cosmology, University of Zurich.
Prof. Helled has received her PhD from Tel-Aviv University, has been a postdoc and senior researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles and a Professor at Tel Aviv University.
Ravit Helled’s scientific work concentrates on planet formation and evolution, planetary interiors, and extrasolar planets. She is an international expert in planetary modeling, and uniquely addressing the link between planetary formation, evolution, and internal structure as well as linking exoplanetary studies with solar-system science.
Prof. Helled is a member of the ember of the National Research Council of the SNF, a member of the panel on Giant Planet Systems, Planetary Science and Astrobiology Decadal Survey 2023-2032. She is also leading the Academic Platform of the national NCCR PlanetS project with the aim to support young researches. Prof. Helled a frequent invited speaker in international conferences, and often serves in committees and various science panels.
Prof. Helled is strongly involved in Space exploration: she is a Co-investigator of the NASA Juno mission to Jupiter, a Co-investigator of the ESA JUICE mission to Jupiter and the Galilean satellites, a science team member of the PLATO, ESA mission to detect and characterize exoplanets, and the interior working group leader and consortium member of the ARIEL ESA selected mission for exoplanetary characterization.
