Nikolaos Karnesis is an expert in Gravitational Waves Astronomy, and especially in calibration and data analysis for space-borne observatories. He was member of the LISA Pathfinder mission Science Team, the ESA mission which aimed to test key technologies for future space-based Gravitational Wave detectors. He is a full member of the LISA Consortium, leading or contributing to the project through various working groups considering science and instrument calibration. He completed his studies in physics at the National Technical University of Athens, and then he obtained his PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Institute of Space Sciences of Catalonia (IEEC-CSIC). He was a post-doctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (AEI) in Hannover, and then a CNES and CNRS fellow at the Astroparticle and Cosmology laboratory in Paris. He later moved to the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as an MSCA fellow. He was recently elected at the governing board of the Hellenic Society on Relativity, Gravitation and Cosmology.
