Research Interests

Physics, amorphous metals, and nanostructured alloys

Asunción García-Escorial is an Ad-Honorem Senior Researcher at the National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CENIM) within the Spanish Research Council (CSIC). She holds a PhD in Physics from the Complutense University of Madrid (1981) and continued her research training at the University of Cambridge under Prof. A. L. Greer and the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble under Prof. A. R. Yavari. Her research focuses on the relationship between the microstructure of metallic alloys and their properties, particularly in non-equilibrium processing techniques. She specialises in amorphous and nanostructured aluminium- and iron-based alloys for technological applications. She has authored over 160 scientific publications, supervised multiple PhD theses, and coordinated European and national research projects. Her key contributions include studies on amorphous metals, nanostructured alloys, and rapid solidification. She has also participated in space projects analysing metal alloy solidification under microgravity conditions to better understand phase transformations.
