RUTH-SOPHIE TAUBNER is scientific coordinator at the Space Research Institute (IWF) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The IWF focuses on the physics of our Solar System and the diversity of exoplanets, operates a satellite laser ranging station, and is the only institute in Austria that develops and builds space-qualified instruments on a large scale. The IWF’s science drivers are the diversity of planets and planetary systems, the uniqueness of Earth and the Solar System, as well as the responsibility of humanity for planet Earth and space. Ruth-Sophie Taubner holds a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Vienna (2018). Her academic work has been focused on analysing the habitability of icy worlds, especially of Enceladus. During her former postdoc positions she worked on different projects related to astrobiology, microbiology, and biotechnology.
